    Raipur, //In response to ongoing complaints about irregularities in passenger bus operations, the Transport Department launched an intensive inspection campaign. On September 9 and 10, transport officials at checkpoints, along with flying squads, conducted thorough inspections of passenger buses. As a result, action was taken against 182 buses, leading to the collection of Rs. 2,08,700 in fines.

    There had been frequent complaints regarding buses exceeding passenger and cargo capacity, arbitrary fare collection, and other violations. This campaign, initiated under the leadership of Transport Commissioner Shri S. Prakash and the Additional Transport Commissioner, aimed to ensure compliance with bus regulations. The inspections were conducted under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989, and the Chhattisgarh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act 1991. Transport Department officials emphasised that strict action will continue to be taken against bus owners and drivers found violating motor vehicle laws and regulations.
